چکیده

In the game of cops and robbers on a graph G = (V,E), k cops try to catch a robber. On the cop turn, each cop may move to a neighboring vertex or remain in place. On the robber’s turn, he moves similarly. The cops win if there is some time at which a cop is at the same vertex as the robber. Otherwise, the robber wins. The minimum number of cops required to catch the robber is called the cop number of G, and is denoted c(G). Let mk be the minimum order of a connected graph satisfying c(G) ≥ k. Recently, Baird and Bonato determined via computer search thatm3 = 10 and that this value is attained uniquely by the Petersen graph. Herein, we give a self-contained mathematical proof of this result. Along the way, we give some characterizations of graphs with c(G) > 2 and very high maximum degree.

The 3x3 rooks graph is the unique smallest graph with lazy cop number 3

In the ordinary version of the pursuit-evasion game cops and robbers, a team of cops and a robber occupy vertices of a graph and alternately move along the graph’s edges, with perfect information about each other. If a cop lands on the robber, the cops win; if the robber can evade the cops indefinitely, he wins. In the variant lazy cops and robbers, the cops may only choose one member of their ...

On the minimum order of $k$-cop win graphs

We consider the minimum order graphs with a given cop number k, and we focus especially on the cases k = 2, 3. We prove that the minimum order of a connected graph with cop number 3 is 10, and show that the Petersen graph is the unique isomorphism type of graph with this property. We provide the results of a computational search on the cop number of all graphs up to and including order 10. A re...

SIGNED GENERALIZED PETERSEN GRAPH AND ITS CHARACTERISTIC POLYNOMIAL

Let G^s be a signed graph, where G = (V;E) is the underlying simple graph and s : E(G) to {+, -} is the sign function on E(G). In this paper, we obtain k-th signed spectral moment and k-th signed Laplacian spectral moment of Gs together with coefficients of their signed characteristic polynomial and signed Laplacian characteristic polynomial are calculated.

Cops and Robbers on String Graphs

The game of cops and robber, introduced by Nowakowski and Winkler in 1983, is played by two players on a graph. One controls k cops and the other a robber. The players alternate and move their pieces to the distance at most one. The cops win if they capture the robber, the robber wins by escaping indefinitely. The cop number of G is the smallest k such that k cops win the game. We extend the re...
